This story is set in the 19th century Andalucian countryside, where the humble and timid Nemorino tries fruitlessly to conquer the heart of the beautiful Adina. The maiden continuously mocks her suitor and rejects all of his attentions.
One day, Beclore, an army captain arrives in the village, and from the moment he meets Adina is amazed at her beauty and falls hopelessly in love with her.
At this moment, Doctor Dulcamara enters the scene, a travelling charlatan, who deceives Nemorino and sells him an Essence of Love so that he can conquer the young woman´s heart. For the magic potion to take effect, he has to wait 24 hours.

However Dulcamara has really given him
a bottle of Burgundy wine. Nemorino
immediately drinks the concoction and begins
to sing happily thinking that soon he will
win the heart of Adina. He is so busy with this thought that he pays no attention to Adina,
who is now astonished at the indifference that Nemorino is suddenly showing her.
On that same day, Belcore meets with Adina and proposes to her. The maiden, although not convinced, accepts his offer.they are to be married the very next day...
The entire village is delighted about the pending celebration...
but Nemorino is in despair.
The next day Nemorino can not be found. Wanting to make him suffer, Adina decides to postpone the wedding. Meanwhile a
desperate Nemorino goes looking for
Dulcamara so he can buy another potion,
one with immediate effect.
The scene is set...
will the potion take effect before the wedding? Who will win Adina?
